2010 Canadian Little League Championships Billeting Request
It is a tradition of Regional Tournaments to billet visiting players with host families in the community. Billeting is one of the most rewarding opportunities in the Little League experience. The process of choosing host families for the visiting players is vital to ensure the comfort of the players and continuing the billeting tradition.
Ancaster Little League is asking it's members to host two players for the tournament that runs from August 5th to Aug 15th in 2010.
What is involved in being a host family?
Very simply, the players require regular meals, proper rest, clean clothing and acceptable activities and some transportation. Host families, many of whom have children of a similar age, can also relate, identify and often offer advice to their visitors to help with any problems that may arise during the tournament.
1. All players need to be billeted in pairs with their host families. This provides a reasonable comfort level for the players and parents.
2. Each Billet will provide the host family with information regarding allergies, reactions to animals, ect. to help assign players to appropriate families.
3. Each host will pick up their visiting players on Aug 5th when they arrive at designated areas. This is an opportunity to meet with the managers and discuss curfew and activity issues (e.g. swimming, biking, etc.) In most cases, simple common sense works.
4. The visiting players are to stay for the duration of the tournament with the host families. This prevents players staying with their parents one night and the host family the next night. The host family is providing not only housing and meals but also support and friendship. They deserve this consideration.
The tournament has appointed a Billet Coordinator to deal with any issues that may arise. The managers will work with the Billet Coordinator.
If you are willing to host two players for the tournament, please contact:
