Congratulations to the Major Blue Jays .The Jays’ started off slow being last half way through the season at 2-5-1. A heartbreaking loss to the Rays in the house league district tournament seemed to be a turning point for the team as they went on to finish the season including playoffs at 9-1-1.

The playoffs started with a close match ageist the Astro's in a 5-3 win than followed by being dominated by the Rays in a 6-0 loss. It seemed to recharge the team and they came back to beat the Red Sox 8-3 , the Expos 11-3 and then the house league district runner ups Yankees 10-5.

The finals we faced the Rays again for a rematch that proved to be the most exciting game of the playoffs. The lead changed hands several times throughout the game with the Jays going ahead 7-6 in the top of the 5th. Ben Miller who was stellar on the mound giving up only two runs throughout the playoffs struck out the next 6-7 batters he faced in a stunning upset win. It was truly a team win!

Throughout out the entire playoffs every player had timely hits, made amazing plays in the field and clutch pitching .The improvement each and every player made was incredible and their hard work paid off.

Fantastic season Jays!!!!!!!

Cardinals Canadian Finalists Print E-mail

ancaster canadina finalists 2010

There are two images that will surely stick with anyone who made it to the park for the Canadian Little League Championship (or even watched on TV).

The first is the sight of the outfield hill and the bleachers full of people on championship Saturday. Bodies wearing Ancaster red everywhere. And folks cheering for the hometown side. It was an amazing moment of community spirit and a wonderful moment of proof that this town can rally around its own.

The second is the picture above. No matter how disappointing the outcome of the final – every player and coach on the Cardinals dearly wanted to win the Canadian championship and advance to Williamsport – they were a team. They practiced hard together, played hard together, laughed hard together, and had the most incredible sporting experience of their young lives together.

They are an example of what every team in Ancaster can, and should, be in the future. Didn’t matter if they were winning 19-4 or losing the final game, they stuck together, cheered each other on and encouraged each other. That effort and that attitude made them the second-best team in Canada this summer. By any measure, that’s an amazing accomplishment.

They were a team all of Ancaster and certainly all of Ancaster Little League should be proud of.

Ben Miller, Mark Szostak, Caleb Radley, Justin Mignardi, Liam Gallagher, Simon Ranger, Anthony Marzanek, Justin Stephenson, Matthew Grabstas, Adam DelFabbro, Riley Gray, Brandon Chong, Dave Whalen, Andrew Thompson, Bill Gallagher, Nate Cordery and Mike Furdal – you did well. Really well.

Congratulations on all you achieved.

And to those who put on their red shirts and red caps and came to the park to cheer on the Cardinals, thank you. Your support made this bigger than a mere baseball tournament. You made it a special event for the entire community.

2nd row (L-R): Joshua Wilson, Cory Field, Dean Mallett, Adam Wilson, Chad Field, Austin Hammer, Brandon Groen

Congratulations to the YANKEES on their championship finish to our 2010 T-ball season.

Coached by Manager Brian Stephenson and assisted by Darcy Field, Jeff Johnson and Dave McHarg the Yankees had everyone on the edge of their seats at their semi-final game when they ended in a tie and had to go overtime the next night. This game resulted in a win and saw them to their championship victory. Evan Stephenson ran his bat well showing us 2 home runs and a grand slam hit.

The Yankees saw a very successful season with only one other tie and no losses during the regular season although the other teams kept up pretty well. Especially the Astros who played their finest during the semi-final tie game as well. And the Red Sox who challenged them in the Championship game. Great games by all !!

Ancaster baseball will look forward to seeing all of these youngsters back next year for another fun-filled baseball season as they develop along into our young champions of tomorrow !

Congratulations Rookie Ball Red Soxs and a fantastic season. The team turned the corner after a heart breaking loss in the Challeng Cup semi's to the Astro's. Their bats came alive as well as some clutch fielding going into the playoffs.

Our first opponent was a late game against the feisty Rays. It was a slug fest 14-10 win as the Rays never quit. One timely home run by Eric Johnson and a amazing line drive grab by Jack Penson ended the Rays hopes for a comeback. The semi's was a grudge match against the Challenge Cup winners Asto's to avenge the semi's loss. The entire team came out to play with perfect fielding and everyone slugging at bat in a 11-4 win.

On to the finals you could see both teams had the jitters as we played the giant beaters Yankees. The turning point was the third inning with Jack Penson hitting a home run to put the Red Soxs in the lead for good. The kids calmed down and they came out swinging which the Yankees had no answer for and they made key plays throughout the game to snuff any chance for a come back with Eric Johnson making two key plays in the last inning to end any hope of a comeback for the Yankee's in a 12-10 hard played exciting game .

Way to go Red Sox.
