Houseleague Rules - Minor and Major

REVISION – January 7, 2009

1.1 Curfews
No new inning can start after 1 hour and 45 minutes from the first pitch. The umpire
will announce the time of the first pitch.

1.2 Fair Play
No player sits twice until all have sat once
Each player shall have a minimum on two innings per game in an infield position
with the positions played at the discretion of the manager

1.3 Minimum Roster
Houseleague teams can play with a minimum of eight (8) players

1.4 Ancaster Little League has adopted a Continuous Batting order, please see rule 4.04
in the rule book for more details

1.5 Maximum of 3 coaches in the dugout

1.6 Call-ups
Limit of 3 times a player can be called up per team
A list of all eligible players will be given to the teams by the convener
Coaches are responsible for finding their own call-ups

1.7 Pitching Restrictions
2 innings maximum per game
1 days rest is required if the pitcher pitches in more than one (1) inning.
For the purposes of this rule, one pitch in any inning constitutes a full inning.

1.8 2-out catcher rule
If the next inning’s catcher is on base with 2 out, the offensive team may replace the
catcher with the 2nd out.

1.9 Mercy Rules
4 runs per inning- game over when it is out of reach

1.10 Called games by weather
Convener or groundskeeper to determine as early as possible if the diamonds are
playable
Coaches and umpires on the field determine playability
The game is in control of the umpire after Coaches and Captain’s meeting
Rainouts do not have to be rescheduled

Lightning policy

All games played under the auspices of Ancaster Little League or under the rules of
Ancaster Little League shall be suspended immediately upon the instance of thunder and
or lightning. Team Managers shall inform opposing managers and the umpire-in-chief of
this policy prior to the start of play.

Any person at the game who believes that thunder and or lightning has occurred shall
immediately bring this to the attention of a team manager. The team manager shall
immediately inform the umpire-in-chief of this information. The umpire-in-chief or
persons in charge at the field shall immediately stop the game and convene a meeting of
the respective team managers, confirm the instance of thunder and or lightning, and
suspend/cancel the game in accordance with this policy.

All persons affiliated with the game are requested to leave the field and seek protective
cover for their own safety.

Games so suspended shall remain suspended for a period of thirty (30) minutes. If the
thirty minute period expires without a re-occurrence of thunder and or lightning, the
game shall resume.

The thirty minute period shall be reset to a full thirty minutes upon the reoccurrence of
another instance of thunder and or lightning. If thunder and or lightning continues,
continuation or cancellation of the game shall be decided by the umpire-in-chief in
accordance with the rules of Little League Baseball, Inc or the specific rules governed by
inter-league and inter-city teams or by the division conveners.
